F1 Grand Prix at Magny-Cours

Click for location

Magny-Cours just outside Nevers, is the home of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in France and the nation's premier racing facility. A lot of French pride goes into improving the facilities and infrastructure each year to maintain its world status. Set in the pastoral region of the Nièvre, there are good road connections to the circuit, particularly from Paris.

Maybe you just want to turn up for the big race on Sunday June 22, but if you are planning to make a weekend of it, the Grand Prix events begin on the Thursday afternoon before when 3-day ticket holders can access the pit lane and do a lap in the circuit bus.

On Friday June 20 it's the first lap on the track for everyone – Formula 1 and the supporting races such as GP2, Euroseries and the Porsche Supercup.

On Saturday the pressure begins to mount. There are the free practice sessions and then the all-important grid positions for Sunday's race are determined. Who will be on pole?

Sunday brings the finals of the supporting events and then at 14.00 the race that everyone has been waiting for revs up. See this year's line-up.

If you want to know which grandstands to go for, what the parking facilities are, how to arrive on the train or by helicopter, the Magny-Cours site has been vastly improved to supply the answers.
