Motor Sports at Magny-Cours Magny-Cours just outside Nevers, is the home of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in France and the Superbike World Championships. But Magny-Cours doesn’t come alive only twice a year. Other activities include F3, the Porsche Driving Experience, GT racing and activities for youngsters such as karting and training courses. According to the director responsible for the activities on the circuits, Philippe Decharne, the main problem is ‘not to have the tracks unoccupied’. Magny-Cours is the premier racing facility in France. Thanks to President Mitterand, whose political life really started in the region, it was bought by the council of Nièvre in 1988. The circuit, facilities and infrastructure are being improved all the time to maintain the number one position of the facility. A section of motorway was built to cut down the travelling time from Paris to just over two hours. The industrial zone, Technopole, has attracted the leading French teams, and here there is a technical school, offering a degree in Sports Engineering. 2008 Events FRENCH OPEN MOTORBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP BOL CLASSIC Endurance race of bikes constructed from 1920 to 1985 TROPHEES HISTORIQUES Competition of Vintage Cars WORLD TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP GT cars PEUGEOT SPORT MEETING SERIE FFSA and 12 HOUR ENDURANCE June 20- 22 GTI TOURING INTERNATIONAL BOL D'OR 24 hr race of old bikes WORLD SUPERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP SUPER SERIES FFSA SERIE FFSA COUPE DE FRANCE DES CIRCUITS
