Natural Beauty CeltÔ ![]() Celtô, the new wellbeing centre in the thermal spa town of Bourbon Lancy, offers a variety of water therapies and beauty treatments for both men and women. Relax, refresh and renew by trying one of ‘Les Escapades’ on offer – a selection of between two to six days of unadulterated body pampering. When Catherine de Medici had been on the throne of France for eleven years without producing an heir to the throne with her husband Henri II, it was to Bourbon Lancy on the western edge of the Morvan Natural Park that she turned in 1542. The waters are reputed to enhance fertility, and certainly it had a pleasing result for her, she went on to have ten children! Graced by Borvo, the god of hot mineral sources, and Damona, the goddess of fertilization, the Gauls followed by the Romans found this hydrotherapy invaluable. The town lies on a volcanic fault line, with water from four separate sources at temperatures consistently between 56 and 60 degrees. ![]() Celtô, the new wellbeing centre uses the curing power of this water in the treatments. The Vitalys programme includes water jet massage, tropical showers, Hammam, sauna and Jacuzzi. The Aqualia methods eliminate toxins in the body and release energy. Nymphéa consists of beauty treatments and stress relievers for men and women. The new Celtô is shaking this traditional town out of its Victorian slumbers. The old town with its mix of medieval and Renaissance buildings sits on the top of the hill. At its foot is the thermal town. Here there is the Casino, and the Grand Hotel, no fancy hip hotel this, just a good, solid establishment which offers visitors to the wellbeing centre, food and accommodation during their stay. ![]() For an example of ‘Les Escapades’, a two day, two night package for two persons costs 272€ per person and includes accommodation, breakfast and dinner at the Grand Hotel, plus a choice of two treatments a day at Celtô such as an oriental face massage and full body massage one day and use of the sauna, Hammam with massage on the other. For the full works, try the six day programme. Celtô is closed in January. The Grand Hotel is closed from December to March.
