Medieval Villages

You will find some of the most beautiful villages in France in Burgundy. There's Vézelay of course and visit the fortified towns of Semur-en-Auxois, the villages of Montréal and Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, the half-timbered houses in Noyers-sur-Serein with windows brimming with geraniums, and the château towns of Châteauneuf-en-Auxois and Brancion.

Resembling a medieval film set, all that’s missing is the actors.

Fairytale turreted towers from the 12thC set the scene. This is voted one of France’s most beautiful villages.

This picturesque village, high on a rock, was a fortified town in the Middle Ages.

Perched on a hill overlooking the Serein valley, Montréal has a charm all of its own.

Half-timbered houses and windows spilling over with geraniums…

Honey coloured buildings, vine-clad hillsides and a 9th C keep; this village has the oldest château in Burgundy.
