Brancion

Brancion is the most authentic of the medieval villages in Burgundy. At the entrance to the village is the castle, and beyond the gateway only stony tracks, circa the year 1200, lead up to the church. The covered market, 15th century, is charming, the verandas of the houses are flower filled, and all that is missing is the film crew.

At the top of the village there is a magnificent panorama over La Chapelle-sous-Brancion and in the little Romanesque church you will find exquisite 14th century frescoes. Surrounded by the undulating vine-clad slopes of the Mâconnais, Brancion is a true gem.
