Beaune Marche aux Vins Architecturally very beautiful, this former church was thought to have been built between the late 14th and early 15th century by the order of the Cordeliers. Facing the Hospices de Beaune, right in the heart of the town, this is an atmospheric place to taste the wines of the Burgundy region. The building has had a chequered past but in 1977 it was restored as a showpiece for the wines. The Marché Aux Vins is open every day: 9.00 - 11.30 and 14.00 - 17.30 Bouchard-Aîné et Fils You are invited to tour the cellars of Bouchard Aîné & Fils situated in a beautiful building on the ring road in Beaune and discover the five senses of wine - hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch. Patriarche In the centre of Beaune, this 13thC building has extensive cellars, beautifully presented (billed as the largest wine cellars in Burgundy). As well as wine tasting, there are interactive presentations in multiple languages to explain the history and the wines. 13 euros per person. No reservation required for individuals, only for group bookings over 20 people. The tour takes about one hour. Vin Sensation For a personal approach to wine tasting, Vin Sensation in the centre of Beaune offers informal classes around a communal table, three times a day. Six wines are tasted at 10.30 over a period of an hour for 21 euros and a slightly longer tasting taking 90 minutes is on offer in the afternoon at 14.30 and 16.30 costing 30 euros. This old monastery from the 9th Century was the home of the Monks of the Order of Saint Martin from Tours. The most precious Chablis have been made in its cellars and a unique 13th century oak press stands proudly in a building nearby. This visit includes a tasting of Laroche's best crus.
