Visual Arts Open Art Galerie 8 rue Auguste Comte, Dijon In the antiques area of Dijon called Quartier Jean-Jacques Rousseau behind the church of Notre Dame, decorator shops, cafes, restaurants and galleries have sprung up. Here the Open Art Galerie represents 40 living French artists, exhibiting some 400 pieces of contemporary work. So, a good place to do some browsing, find a gift and do some talent spotting. This is not necessarily abstract art - those splashes of colour with an indefinite meaning - although there are some of those to choose from in a variety of medias. A cross section of styles and subjects are on view: some show landscapes such as the sunny Mediterranean pictures of Lisa Corbière (above) or the talented figurative work by Alice Locoge (below). The pictures at the gallery are affordable for originals, starting at 50 euros, going up to 1,500 euros.
The Open Art Gallery is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 -12.00 and 14.00 to 19.00 and on the third Sunday of the month or by appointment, tel 00 33 (0)3 80 72 31 47
