Karin Neumann

Karin Neumann, a German born artist, has been living in Burgundy for over 20 years.

Her work is a vibrant explosion of colour using oil on canvas and mixed media, with a leaning toward Expressionism. ‘My inspiration is life’, she says, ‘Life is both beautiful and cruel. I like the two sides – death, a landscape, but also deep emotions.’ All is not as it appears on the surface: there is a nakedness, vibrancy, violence and purity to life.

Neumann trained at the Beaux Arts in Strasbourg and regularly exhibits in her native Germany, Burgundy, Paris and Switzerland.
