Karin Neumann

Karin Neumann, a German born artist, has been living in Burgundy for over 20 years.

Her work is a vibrant explosion of colour using oil on canvas and mixed media, with a leaning toward Expressionism. ‘My inspiration is life’, she says, ‘Life is both beautiful and cruel. I like the two sides – death, a landscape, but also deep emotions.’ All is not as it appears on the surface: there is a nakedness, vibrancy, violence and purity to life.

Neumann trained at the Beaux Arts in Strasbourg and regularly exhibits in her native Germany, Burgundy, Paris and Switzerland. In 2008 she has an exhibition scheduled at the François Mitterand Gallery in Dijon.
