Visual Arts Colin G. Winn - Painter & illustrator
Before moving the Burgundy, Englishman Colin Winn worked as a graphic designer developing story boards for TV commercials, large-scale murals and publicity material. He uses mixed media, rendered by hand or on the PC, in full colour, inks or gouache, acrylics or crayon. ‘I have a particularly marked crayon style’, he says, ‘the technique lends a certain fluidity to what can otherwise seem a static image.’ Chalk and charcoal, the things of the schoolroom, are two of his favourite medium. Cars and planes and what he calls ‘hardware’ subjects are a particular passion. Living near the medieval town of Louhans in south east
Burgundy, Colin is now developing his abstract work. ‘This is always
enormously liberating after the much more highly detailed work that house
and people portraits demand.’
Here the beauty of the surrounding countryside provides the ultimate studio. Together with Catherine, his wife, Colin now passes on his skills by offering painting holidays from the Hen Studio in Savigny-en-Revermont. For the next 10 day course, tailored to all levels and styles see: www.pictureburgundy.com for details. |
