The barges of yester-year have been transformed into luxury accommodation providing quality food and wine. There are lots of places to visit along the way from châteaux and vineyards to pretty medieval villages steeped in geraniums.

For a group of friends or a family get together, there couldn’t be a better way to enjoy the Burgundian countryside. It's a great way to meet people too, as Marilyn Floyde found out when she took a barge vacation on the Luciole. There are some 30 or so of these vessels cruising the canals of Bourgogne.
