La Vieille Auberge

for location
On the north eastern side of the Morvan Natural Park,
La Vieille Auberge is situated just by Lac St-Agnan, 15 km from Saulieu.
Lac St-Agnan is a beautiful reservoir surrounded by pine trees, frequented
by fishermen and walkers, cyclists and horse trekkers. This small hotel
with eight rooms offers a good restaurant and is an ideal get-away
if you want to relax and unwind. Under new management from February 2014, the rooms are decorated
in sunny colours each with en suite shower
rooms and TV.
The setting is calm and peaceful. This is walking country.
The walk around the lake, for example, takes two and a half
hours but is well marked and flat. You can go fly fishing on the reservoirs and rivers in the Morvan,
and if riding is your passion, there is a good stable closeby.
If touring is more the order of the day, visit Vézelay,
L’Abbaye
de la Pierre-qui-Vire, Château
de Bazoches, Les
Fontaines-Salées and the Musée
de la Résistance. The village of Quarre-les-Tombes and
the towns of Avallon and Saulieu are interesting too.
Then enjoy dinner in the restaurant in the evening. After all the pure country air, you are assured of a
good night’s sleep in these peaceful, unspoilt surroundings.
